What changes it

A lead list, a reply within minutes and a follow-up routine help any salesperson close more of the same leads. Want to see what slow follow-up already costs you? Try the lead leakage calculator →

How this works
  1. Deals a month at full pace = leads a month × close rate. Each deal brings the deal value every month for the months a client pays (1 for a one-time sale).
  2. Ramp-up: in each ramp month they close a growing share of the full pace (with 3 ramp months: 25%, 50%, 75%), then 100%. This is an assumption; change the ramp months to match what you have seen.
  3. Each month: gross profit on the revenue received − incentive on that revenue − salary (CTC). Payback is the first month the running total reaches zero or more, ramp included. Break-even deals = CTC ÷ (lifetime deal value × (margin % − incentive %)).
  4. The results are only as good as the numbers you put in. Nothing here is an average or a benchmark, and nothing is saved unless you send it to yourself.
Questions

Frequently asked

Use the close rate your best current salesperson, or you, actually get on the same kind of leads. A new hire rarely does better in the first months. If you do not track it, count the last 50 enquiries and how many bought.

Yes, put in the full monthly cost: salary, PF and other benefits, phone, travel and any fixed allowances. The incentive goes separately as a percentage.

Enter the monthly amount as the deal value and the number of months a typical client stays. Payback then takes longer, because the revenue arrives month by month, but each deal is worth more.

Because every extra deal goes straight to profit once the salary is covered. That is why a lead list, fast replies and a follow-up routine matter as much as the hire itself.

No. It is arithmetic on your own assumptions. Change one number at a time to see which one matters most for your business.
