Home services calculator: what are a job and an AMC worth?

A one-time job pays once; an annual maintenance contract pays every year it renews. Follow a month of calls through booked visits and jobs to AMCs, and see what each job costs, what an AMC leaves after its visits, and the recurring revenue this month adds.

    How this is calculated
    1. Ad enquiries = ad spend ÷ cost per enquiry, or (ad spend ÷ cost per click) × click to enquiry rate. Enquiries = ad enquiries + enquiries from other channels. Spend = ad spend + other channels.
    2. MQLs = enquiries × % MQL. SQLs (inspection visits booked) = MQLs × % that book. Jobs = SQLs × % that become a paid job. AMCs signed = jobs × % that sign (0 when you do not sell AMCs). Renewed = AMCs × % renewed.
    3. Cost per enquiry = spend ÷ enquiries. Marketing cost per inspection visit = spend ÷ SQLs. Inspection visit costs = SQLs × cost of one inspection visit. Cost per job = (spend + inspection visit costs) ÷ jobs.
    4. Gross profit per job = job value × your margin. Profit per job = that − cost per job.
    5. AMC profit per contract = AMC price − service visits × cost per visit. 3-year AMC profit = that × (1 + renewal % + renewal %²): year one, then the share that renews in years two and three, at the same price and cost.
    6. Most you can pay per job = gross profit per job + % that sign an AMC (0 when you do not sell AMCs) × 3-year AMC profit. Recurring revenue added a month = AMCs signed × AMC price ÷ 12.
    7. The month: job sales = jobs × job value; gross profit = jobs × gross profit per job; profit = that − spend − inspection visit costs. AMC fees = AMCs × AMC price. With the first year of AMCs = profit + AMCs × AMC profit per contract; with 3 years = profit + AMCs × 3-year AMC profit.

Green, amber and red compare each result with the break-even your own numbers imply, never with an outside benchmark. Every starting number is an editable example, not an industry average.

    Questions

    About this calculator

An MQL is an enquiry in your service area, for a service you offer, from someone who replies. An SQL is an inspection or survey visit booked for a date and time. Counting both shows whether you lose customers on the phone or after the visit.

AMC price − service visits × your cost per visit, for one contract a year. Over 3 years it is that × (1 + renewal % + renewal %²): year one, then the share that renews in years two and three, at the same price and cost.

Moves are one-time jobs, so the Packers & movers chip hides the AMC fields and the cards show the profit a month and the cost per survey visit instead.

No. They are starting values so the page is not empty. Replace them with your own from your call register, job cards and AMC records.
